Easter Flowers
Easter a time of renewal, spring has arrived, flower buds appear, and spring flowers, Daffodil, Tulip, Jasmine, Forsythia and lots of other early flowers & plants emerge. It is no wonder that the religious ceremonies include flowers and after the austerity of Lent in the Christian Calendar Easter flower have special meaning. White lilies either oriental lily or Longiflorium lily with other yellow flowers are traditional. Easter holidays are a time for families to get together where Easter Flowers are given signifying unity. On the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after March 21 churches are filled with Easter flowers and there are special hymns and songs. Easter marks the end of winter season and the beginning of spring and floral bouquets make an ideal gift. Easter Good Friday is on 6th April in 2007, Easter Saturday is the last day of lent, Easter Sunday ( on 8th April 2007) is a day of celebration with Easter Flowers filling churches. In Christianity, Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Legend tells us that Lilies sprung in the place where his drops of blood fell. It is no coincidence that Lilies are the traditional Easter flowers. Along with Pussy Willow Easter time is a special time of year in the United Kingdom, the first flowers break signaling the end of the winter season and the beginning of Spring. Springs flowers should be mixed with the more exotic and ethnic varieties such as Orchids and Amaryllis. Easter time is a good time for giving. Flower Giving in Christian, Pagan and the Jewish faith are signs of welcome and joy.
