Easter Good Friday is on the 10th April in 2009, Holy Saturday 11th April 2009 is also known as Easter Even and the Great Sabbath. The term "Easter Even" was used by the 1549 Prayer Book. Easter Saturday is the last day of Lent, Easter Sunday known on 12th April 2009 as Easter Day is the high point of the Christian Calender. Easter Monday 13th April 2009 is a public holiday in the UK, and is an occasion for numerous customs such as Egg rolling which is very popular celebration in England and is an Easter Monday sport. Hard-boiled eggs are rolled down a hill. Customs differ from place to place. The winner?s egg may be the one that rolls the farthest, or survives the most rolls, Easter time is synonymous with springtime, renewal & beginning. Easter giving after the Christian period of Lent is a joyous time, Sunshine returns with longer days, colours vibrate in the abundance of light, trees sprout leaves and wildlife takes full advantage. Easter above all seasons is a real time to rejoice and wonder at our world while reflecting on our place within it. Easter is a family time with gifting of flowers, chocolate eggs & seasonal plants. The wonder of Easter, the joy of life and the promise of lighter, warmer days to come.
