Fortified wines are distinguished from spirits made from wine. Fortified wines have spirits added to them. While Spirits are distilations. Fortified wines called dessert wines in the U.S. Sherry is a Spanish wine from Jerez, Port is from Portugal and usually shipped from Oporto, Madeira is a wonderful wine from the beautiful Madeira Islands Marsela is from Sicily, Vermouth wines are from both France & Italy while Muscat wine is from a specific pennisula in Portugal.
