Whisky Scotch Blended
Blended Scotch whisky can contain a combination of whiskies from many different malt and grain distilleries. The normal ratio of malt to grain is 60% grain 40% malt. The percentage of malt used will determine the quality and smoothness of taste and character. Each whisky used in the blending process will normally have been matured for five years, however there are a number of higher aged blended scotch whiskies available. Teachers Highland Cream maintain the highest proportion of malt whisky to grain in their product. Some distilleries use second and third mashings and distillations as the basis of the malt element of their blends. Blended whiskies maintain strong loyalties from Scotch drinkers as the flavours are maintained by the skill of the whisky blenders who seek to maintain the exact favour in each bottle year in, year out.
