Italian Pinot Nero & Vermentino di Gallura Gift

The Giogantinu Vermentino di Gallura: Gallura - situated in North East Sardinia, and known as one of the most famous enchanting hilly region, remarkable for its vine growing location. The special characteristics of the land, the climate and selection of vines, together with the passion of viticulturists, are essential to a product steeped in nobility. The area concerned with the production of Giogantinu wines has achieved such a high level of specialisation that it is renowned for the superior quality of its products. The district of Berchidda and Oschiri. The grapes are Vermentino from 70 years old vineyards cultivated as small trees that yield only 3000 litres per hectare. The taste tones of this mellow wine follow an intense aroma of apples and mature figs, stressing the fragrance of Mediterranean maquis, honey and dried nuts. This wine goes very well with seafood, shell-fish, and most excellent with lobster. The Oltrepo Pavese Pinot Nero by Torrevilla is an Italian Wine from the area of Oltrepo Pavese in the region of Lombardy. This powerful red wine made from the Pinot Nero grape is ideally suited to the local Italian sub climate. The wine has an Intense ruby red colour with a fragrant flowery and fruity bouquet. Rich on the palate, pleasantly complex with delicate almond flavours. For over 30 years some say that Pinot Nero has been an international standard-bearer for excellence in Italian red wine. Pinot Nero is one of the greatest red grape vines found to have favourable positions on the hills of Oltrepo production and is scarce, while quality is excellent. Once testing ripeness of harvest is adjudicated upon the grapes are hand picked, each bunch is carefully selected and then pressing begins, the grapes are subjected to maceration which lasts between eight and ten days, dependant on the distinctive features of the vintage year; After malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred into barrels to be refined, and bottled. These ancient methods of production produce a wine balanced, well-rounded with great mouth feel, pleasantly silky and fresh. This interesting Torreville Pinot Nero is immediately inviting with its dark red, almost impenetrable colour. The winy scents open on fruity notes of blackberries and raspberries. Great with roast, red meats and game.
