Italian Zuccolo Quality Wines Exceptionali
Zuccolo is a small Italian wine producer of exquisite wines grown, tended, cared for and bottled with a love of wine only Italian passion can create. In this selection we have included three wines of exceptional character. These include a Zuccolo Collio Denominazione di origine controllata Pinot Grigio. This wine is the real deal when it comes to Pinot Grigo, without wishing to get into legal troubles, it has been suggested that the vast quantities of wine exported as Pinot Grigio are in fact nothing of the sort. We couldn't comment on this, other than to say that this is the real thing The vineyards are in the Friuli region which is in Italy's north eastern corner, barely mentioned in guidebooks, rarely visited by Italians, this region of snow-capped mountains, warm sandy beaches, lagoons, remote hamlets, Roman ruins, palatial country villas, rocky coastal cliffs, picturesque fishing villages, The Zuccolo Pinot Grigio from Friuli is Soft, creamy and full Pinot Grigio from the Collio hills which border on Slovenia. Excellent food wine, with a surprisingly crisp finish. Lively notes of pea and even hay! The next wine included in this gift is a Zuccolo Friuli Grave Refosco Dal Peduncolo Rosso 2004. Everything written above is pertinent to this wine. This wine is a wonderful red colour from the bright cherry toned fruit. Refosco is grown in the Friuli region on the border with Slovenia. Fresh, juicy and smoky too, this red wine is brilliant with rustic meat and tomato-based pasta dishes. The final wine and by no means the least for that is another white Italian wine from the Friuli region and has been made from the Sauvignon grape. This grape made famous by Californian wine growers and originally from Bordeaux, France. Fume' Blanc denotes an oaky style of Sauvignon Blanc with a grape character of Lemon, pear, melon, green apple, fig, grapefruit, hay or grass, flint with a light-to medium-body crisp texture. Ideal with shellfish, sole, halibut, chicken, salads, vegetables, citrus sauces. Highly recommended.
