Madeira Wine Duke of Clarence & Handmade Cheese Hamper

Blandy’s Duke of Clarence Rich Madeira Port is rich, full bodied and soft textured making an excellent and splendid after dinner drink. Blandys Duke of Clarence is just not an ordinary port wine but indeed the quiniscential port wine. Duke of Clarence Madeira is indeed one of the very finest. This is the richest tasting of Madeira wine, full bodied, rich and soft textured, a splendid after dinner drink. Madeira is made on the Volcanic island of the same name situated in the Atlantic ocean some 400 miles off the North African coast. The sub tropical island was discovered in 1419 by Portuguese explorers who, finding it heavily forested named it Madeira - the Portiguese word for wood or timber. In 1807 John Blandy was posted to the island as part of the British Garrison sent to Madeira to thwart any invasion attempt by Napoleon’s forces. He returned and settled on the island in 1811 establishing himself in the wine trade. To this rich wine we have added the following specialist cheeses. The Genuine Wensleydale Smoked Cheese. From the original Hawes Creamery saved from extinction by Kit Calvert MBE when big business wanted to swallow up the best to make mediocrity. The original Hawes Creamery Wensleydale has that crumbly texture the sweet and then tangy taste with lingering flowery tones captured in the milk from the unfettered floral grazing available in the Yorkshire Dales. This cheese has been lightly smoked and a genuine treats. Next we have a Real Yorkshire Wensleydale. The Genuine Wensleydale Cheese. Made in the original Hawes Creamery saved by Kit Calvert MBE. The original Hawes Creamery Wensleydale has that crumbly texture the sweet and then tangy taste with lingering flowery tones captured in the milk from the unfettered floral grazing available in the Yorkshire Dales. Literally a taste of the dales. The next two cheeses are The Redesdale Cheese. This handmade Sheeps Cheese. Made in Northumbria this delightful Sheeps cheese has a sweet subtle prize-winning distinctive flavour. Mild in texture this excellent cheese suitable for vegetarians is handmade and the produce of a single flock of sheep specially reared in unspoilt countryside for their milk, and the ELSDON Goats Cheese. This handmade Elsdon full fat hard Goats cheese is suitable for vegetarians. The Elsdon cheese is a delicate take on traditional goats cheese with a pleasant tang. This cheese made with care by skilled cheese-makers from the goat milk from individual flocks has won many awards. The final touch is a pack of Handbaked Italian dipping crackers made with the finest extra virgin olive oil. Sip, nibble, enjoy.
