The first wine in our picture is the Jacob's Creek Merlot of which they have written. A delightful vintage 2006, where good berry flavour development and the overall balance and vine health in individual Merlot vineyards was optimal. Decent Winter rainfalls and a cool, dry Spring resulted in healthy vines with slightly reduced bunch numbers. The slightly reduced yields, low disease pressure and consistent summer conditions resulted in parcels of Merlot showing abundant varietal flavours with excellent concentration and structure. Individual parcels were matured separately prior to selection for inclusion in the final blend. The second wine is a Baron Philippe de Rothschild French Merlot with a description of, deep, elegant, cherry-red colour. The nose is full and generous with ripe, red-berry and cherry aromas underlain with a slight floral hint. The palate is soft and supple with lots of youthful fruit and concentrated flavours of vanilla, blackberries and plums. The finish is both long and smooth with a lick of liquorice. Our final wine is the wonderful Winemakers release Lindemans Cabernet Merlot. which is a medium bodied wine with soft berry fruit flavours and the richness of plums, soft and sensual that is the wine.
