Caring for your Roses
When you receive your roses in a box, keep them in a cool place until you are ready to place them in a vase.
Foliage under the water decays faster, thus shortening the rose's life, so remove any foliage that will be under water when you arrange them.
Cut an inch or so off the base of each stem with a sharp knife at 45 degrees to the stem while holding the stem end under water and place them in luke warm water.
If the roses are limp when you receive them, submerge the entire rose in luke warm water for about an hour, after cutting the inch off the end of the stem (see above).
Add a floral preservative to the water you give your roses according to the preservatives instructions.
Check the arrangement daily and replenish the water as needed to keep the vase filled to the top to ensure all the roses have an ample water supply.
Changing the water in your arrangement every 2-3 days will also keep your roses fresher longer.
Keep your roses out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources and drafts.
Roses love a cool well lit area. When you are away from home, or as you go to bed at night, place your roses in a cool location. Keeping your roses cool will extend their life by several days. |
